Figures released by the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) show that new tractor registrations rose by more than 35% compared to last year. 1,606 units (over 50hp) were registered making it the highest figure since April 2012.
Some experts have attributed the spike to concerns over Brexit, believing that manufacturers may have imported the tractors ahead of the original March 29th deadline when the UK was due to leave the European Union. This was fuelled over a fear that a no-deal Brexit would result in difficulty importing the tractors as well as a higher cost to purchase them.
